Our approach is grounded in the RESEARCH, TRAIN AND TRANSFORM theory of change. We aim to empower persecuted minority groups by cultivating deep relationships and equipping them with essential skills, especially within high-risk environments. This strategic methodology enables us to operate with both security and confidentiality, ensuring the safety of those we serve while fostering long-term resilience and transformation.

RESEARCH AND ADVOCACY
At Somali Mission, we believe that research is essential to understanding the broader context in which religious and other minority groups live, particularly in predominantly Muslim countries like Somalia. Somali Christians and other marginalised communities face profound challenges, including persecution, social exclusion, and systemic barriers that hinder their ability to practice their faith openly. These hardships often result in isolation and a lack of access to vital resources, making it difficult for these communities to thrive.
Through rigorous and sensitive research, we aim to document the realities faced by these groups and provide credible, firsthand insights. This information equips key stakeholders with the knowledge needed to develop more effective policies and initiatives that uphold the rights and well-being of religious minorities within the wider Somali society.
In addition, the Somali Mission actively promotes freedom of religion or belief by fostering awareness, tolerance, and mutual understanding among different faiths. Through educational programs, advocacy campaigns, and training initiatives, we seek to cultivate a culture of dialogue, one that respects diverse beliefs and encourages peaceful coexistence.
Our ultimate goal is to contribute to a more inclusive and harmonious society where every individual can freely and safely express their faith.
- TRAIN AND CAPACITY-BUILDING
We offer comprehensive capacity-building and training opportunities for Somali Christians and other minority groups to strengthen their skills and deepen their understanding of the Christian faith. Through the leadership of formally trained Somali theologians, pastors, and professionals, the Somali Mission network delivers strategic initiatives that promote healthy church growth and spiritual resilience.
Our training programs focus on key areas including discipleship, leadership development, and Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB). These programs are designed to equip Somali believers to face persecution with courage and wisdom, enabling them to assert their rights and live out their faith boldly in the face of adversity.
By igniting a movement rooted in research, training. and transformation, we aim to empower Somali Christians to take on leadership roles, strengthen their communities, and become effective witnesses of hope, reconciliation, and renewal.

TRANSFORMATION
The final phase of our mission is transformation, where learning becomes action and impact becomes visible. We measure success not merely by the number of individuals trained, but by the lasting, tangible change reflected in their lives and communities.
The skills and knowledge gained during training are actively applied to real-world challenges. For instance, a believer trained in business management may launch a discreet enterprise that offers employment to fellow Christians. Similarly, a leader equipped with trauma healing might form a confidential support group to foster emotional recovery and spiritual strength.
Our goal is to empower Somali Christians and other marginalised communities to become agents of change, building resilience, cultivating hope, and creating environments where they can overcome persecution and flourish. Transformation is not just an outcome; it is a movement toward sustainable growth, dignity, and reconciliation.
